Why choose Neurofeedback?

Your brain coordinates everything that you do. It enables you to breathe, move, think, and feel. It is responsible for all of your body's functions. With exposure to stress, illness, and trauma (physical, environmental, or emotional), your brain becomes imbalanced, or dysregulated. Neurofeedback safely and effectively optimizes brain performance and is an important part of overall health and wellness. IASIS Neurofeedback technology is FDA-approved and is used by certified, licensed practitioners. Over 100,000 clients worldwide have been treated sucessfully using IASIS Neurofeedback.

Funded by the Department of Defense, this healing has been measured and documented in a clinical study by the world-renowned imaging team at UC San Diego. Findings include a 54% reduction in abnormal brainwaves and a 53% reduction in post-concussive symptoms after just 12 sessions. Symptoms include: headaches, insomnia, anxiety, sensitivity to light and sound, memory, focus, concentration, feelings of frustration, stuttering, and smoking. Due to the striking findings, the research team has been awarded an additional $1M grant from the Veterans Administration for further study. Results are expected to be published in 2023.

How does Neurofeedback work?

Similar to rebooting your computer, IASIS Neurofeedback resets and balances your nervous system. Using electroencephalography (EEG) Neurofeedback detects and analyzes your brainwaves. The device detects the areas in which your brainwaves are either overactive or underactive, then sends tiny pulses of electricity - 12 million times more gentle than one AA battery - to your brainwaves, teaching them to balance themselves.  This stimulates healthy brainwave patterns that generate healing in the brain. After a series of 10-30 sessions, on average, your brain is able to maintain its balance and reach peak performance.

What will be done?

You will sit in a comfortable chair. Your skin will be cleaned and prepped with alcohol and a gentle scrubbing gel. Using a conductive paste, flat sensors, or electrodes, will be placed at the base of your neck, behind both ears, and on your scalp. These electrodes are connected to sensitive electronics and computer software that detects, amplifies, and records specific brain activity. This information is simultaneously fed back to your brain, gently nudging each brainwave into its optimal frequency range. Sustainable changes become evident after 6-10 sessions. Many clients report feeling relaxed, calm, and focused after a session.

What are the possible side effects?

You might experience a slight headache, dizziness, sleepiness, or nausea as you re-regulate your brain. There may be mild skin irritation at the site of sensor placement. Side effects are rare and transitory; they usually subside quickly. Unwanted effects usually seem related to current instabilities in the nervous and immune systems. You will gain resilience and flexibility over time.

What can I expect?

Your particular response to Neurofeedback cannot be predicted, nor can your outcome. Each patient's journey and response vary. Some patients experience great shifts and growth while others are slow and steady in their progress. Progress rarely follows a straightforward path, but often goes "up and down" with a general trend in the desired direction.

Is Neurofeedback covered by insurance?

Some insurance companies cover neurofeedback, or biofeedack. We are happy to provide an insurance superbill that you can submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement.
